Fireside Chats with Mike Williams - February 2015 http://theinventors.org/library/inventors/blwrench2.htm

It’s easy to take for granted the foundational technologies we use in our lives.

You know- the obvious tools we overlook because they define our modern world. This special edition of Fireside Chats tips its hat to black history month by shining a spotlight on a great black inventor from our past. This month’s installment of Fireside Chats is on Jack Johnson’s wrench

Patented in 1922, the wrench has become ubiquitous thanks to its elegant design. The creator, Jack Johnson, was as innovative as he was interesting. Jack Johnson was a celebrated boxer who earned the title of ‘Colored Heavyweight Champion of the Word’ in 1903 and became the first black man to become the ‘Heavyweight Champion of the World’ in 1908.

The wrench was conceptualized by Jack while serving a sentence for violating the Mann Act for traveling with his white girlfriend across state lines. The Mann Act was a law designed to target human traffickers but was also used to prosecute those perceived as immoral. Jack Johnson openly defied the racist legislation of his time paved the way for others to challenge the prejudices they face. Astronauts who are 3D printing wrenches in space are using the groundwork established by many great men and women, notably Jack Johnson. Long ago, humanity began a never-ending dialog about inclusiveness. We categorize people by characteristics such as culture, physical features, gender, and ideology. The world needs visionaries like Jack Johnson to remind the skeptics that greatness has its own categories.

First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I
had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.

I've had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Kudos!

I have been browsing online more than 3 hours nowadays, but I by
no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is beautiful worth enough for me. Personally, if all
web owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the internet will likely be a
lot more useful than ever before.

It's in fact very complicated in this active life to listen news on Television, so I just use world wide web for that reason, and obtain the newest news.

Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone
and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop,
just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and
she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but
I had to share it with someone!

Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform you're using?
I'm looking to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having
a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

obviously like your web-site but you need to take a look at
the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife
with spelling problems and I in finding it very troublesome to tell the reality then again I
    will certainly come again again.
